Grado, one of the oldest family owned companies in the Audio Industry, has for over half a century been the leaders in design engineering for the high-end audio and recording industries. Grado is famous for their remarkable headphone and phono cartridge designs and hold over 48 patents. Company founder, Joseph Grado is credited as the inventor of the stereo moving coil phono cartridge. He is responsible for more innovations in phono cartridge design than any other person in our lifetime and was inducted into the Audio Hall of Fame in 1982. Time honored manufacturing know how and painstaking attention to design detail allows previously unobtained levels of pitch control, harmonic accuracy and bass quality to be achieved. All Grado headphones and cartridges are hand made to Grado's full performance specifications... nothing leaves the factory unless it sounds pure Grado. The Legacy Continues... Joseph Grado has passed on the mantle of President to his nephew John Grado. John has risen from sweeping the floors of the factory as a twelve year old, to President and Owner of Grado Laboratories. Following on from Joseph Grado's acclaimed designs, John has led the development of the Prestige, Reference and Statement Series of headphones and phono cartridges and the Professional Series of headphones. All of which have received World Wide acclaim by the Audio press. Grado RS1i - Reference Series open air type dynamic headphones Featuring handcrafted Mahongany earpieces made using an intricate curing process, Grado has been able to optimize the tonal quality. The RS1 uses dynamic transducers in an open-air configuration, the cups being open-backed. The result is a smooth, coherent sound with detailed dynamics. Frequency response ranges from 12-30 kHz and the drivers are matched to 0.05dB. Weighing 9oz, the headphones are an example of the wonder of mother nature with a gorgeous, honey-colored look.Vented diaphragm

Grado Statement Series |

Grado GS 1000i - Statement Series open air type dynamic headphones The GS1000 was shown for the very first time at the International Head-Fi Convention in New York City. The response was just phenomenal. The Grado Statement GS1000 has been on the drawing board for sometime, and we have to admit that this is our finest effort to date This new headphone incorporates a redesigned driver, a new and larger wooden housing and much larger foam cushions that are extremely comfortable. Grado’s new cushion design actually creates a “room” for the ears to sit, creating a larger soundstage and greater spatial experience for the listener. It was most important to design the correct balance between the driver and our new wooden driver housing to give us the resulting sound that we desired. This has been accomplished. By creating this “room” for the ears to sit, positioning of the cushions with regards to the ears (i.e., forward or back) is somewhat critical in finding the absolute sweet spot. With this new cushion design, we now believe the GS1000 to be one, if not the most comfortable headphone on the market today. The new designed driver delivers a top to bottom sound that is extremely balanced. The mass distribution within the new larger wooden housing has also been improved. The way the new driver and wooden housing work together to move air and react to sound vibrations are less affected by transient distortions. The new GS1000 will provide improved control over the upper and lower frequency spectrums while better supporting Grado’s world-renowned midrange. The GS1000 retains a sound that is pure Grado, rich full-bodied vocals, excellent dynamics and an ultra smooth top end. The presentation is very detailed, the bass is deep and the music is very tight and non-fatiguing. All with a soundstage that is huge allowing for unbelievable separation and layering of the music which is simply stunning.Vented diaphragm

Grado PS 1000 - Professional Series open air type dynamic headphones Grado is proud to introduce the new flagship of their headphone line, the PS1000. This hybrid design has an inner sleeve of a selected species of hand-crafted mahogany made by using an intricate curing process. Its outer housing of metal machined from a special non-resonant, very hard metal alloy utilizes a special processing and casting method to increase the porosity of the alloy. This combination of wood and metal insures that the earphone chamber has no "ringing" which might obscure detail or add coloration. The way the wood and metal housing moves air and reacts to sound vibrations is now virtually unaffected by transient distortions. Grado has also designed a new cable for the PS1000. The new eight-conductor cable design, utilizing UHPLC (ultra-high purity, long crystal) copper, improves control and stability of the total range of the frequency spectrum. The PS1000 also utilizes a newly re-configured voice coil and diaphragm design, resulting in unsurpassed speed and accuracy response. The cushion design creates the correct balance between the driver and hybrid housing to give the resulting musicality desired. The cushion design also makes the PS1000 one of the most comfortable to wear headphones in the world. Grado has taken all their knowledge and years of experience in controlling resonances and eliminating distortions and this has culminated in the development of their finest headphone ever, the PS1000.Vented diaphragm
