Bob Stuart studied Psychoacoustics, Electronic Engineering and Management at Imperial College, London. A passion for music soon led him to specialise in audio design. Allen Boothroyd trained as a mechanical engineer, going on to study industrial design at the Royal College of Art.Brought together by a shared love of music, their professional partnership was born of their desire to better hear it. Since founding the company more than 30 years ago in 1977, both have remained at the heart of their respective disciplines: Bob heading all technological developments; Allen leading the design team.The results have been some of the most highly-praised audio equipment in the world, setting many a high-performance audio standard. Meridian G06.2 24-Bit Compact Disc Player The G06 is an ideal player for many applications, such as an integrated analogue stereo system, and the G06’s coaxial digital outputs will drive Meridian DSP loudspeakers directly to form a superb quality all-digital stereo CD replay system. At the heart of the G06 are fully-integrated electronics and a computer-style CD/DVD-ROM drive. This allows multiple high-speed re-reads to ensure accurate recovery of data from even the most difficult disc. This feature alone provides ten times the error correction of a conventional CD player. The G06 maximises audio quality by reducing jitter to extremely low levels, for a smooth open, well-defined sound and pinpoint stereo imaging. The player utilises 192 kHz, 24-bit digital to analogue converters for the very highest analogue quality, along with superb analogue design. The result is dramatically improved stereo imaging, and a clear, open and authoritative sound. Analogue, coax S/PDIF and optical Toslink outputs are provided.

Meridian G08.2 Upsampling Compact Disc Player Upsampling allows the Meridian G08.2 to deliver the best from the Compact Disc medium, which is capable of exceptional results. Upsampling enables filtering to take place far beyond the range of human hearing, as well as offering other audible benefits right across the audio band, for ultimate transparency from a CD source. Meridian’s research team designed an exquisite new filter based on their original research – a filter with ‘apodizing-like’ qualities. It first appeared in the 808.2 and is now included in the G08.2. This filter system removes “ringing” and pre-echoes for superb clarity and imaging, and is so effective that it can even correct errors made in the recording or mastering stage. CDs played back on the G08.2 can sound even better than they did in the studio! Powerful on-board DSP up-samples the data to 24 bits, and to a sample rate of 176.4 kHz for digital to analogue conversion to drive the analogue outputs, and 88.2 kHz for the digital outputs. The G08 also employs triple buffering to minimise jitter, and therefore maximise HF transparency and stereo image precision and stability. All digital data is accurately re-clocked. Multiple power supplies ensure that digital and analogue circuitry are kept apart. A high-speed drive ensures accurate playback of even the most difficult disc.

Meridian 808.3 Signature Reference CD Player As part of the Reference 800 Series, the 808.3 is the highest performance CD Player manufactured by Meridian, and forms the heart of Meridian’s ultimate music system.
808.3 inherits Meridian’s quarter-century tradition of award-winning players, while setting a new benchmark in audio performance. 808.3 features a brand new internal CD-ROM-based drive, which allows for data recovery and error correction many times better than that employed in standard CD systems. A brand new master clock and timing circuitry minimises jitter for improved sound source localisation, clarity and imaging, while the proprietary ‘apodising’ digital upsampling filter system developed by Meridian adds a new accuracy and clarity to CD replay – even correcting digital faults in the original recording, and helping to make CDs played on the 808.3 sound like high resolution recordings. 808.3 also offers an array of high-performance analogue and digital inputs, including a new SpeakerLink input, as well as analogue, digital and SpeakerLink outputs. These features combine with source switching and volume control facilities, enabling 808.3 to work as a high-performance pre-amplifier for other sources in the same system. In addition to its standard inputs, 808.3 includes an ID40 Sooloos Card, allowing it to be connected to a Meridian Sooloos Digital Media System. Once connected, the ID40 card appears as a zone within the Sooloos system and renders audio for playback through any of the 808.3’s outputs. The ID40 signal is also upsampled via the apodising filter for the ultimate in audio performance. The 808.3 is offered in Graphite as standard, with Piano Lacquer Black or Silver available at no additional cost. In addition, the full range of Meridian Select colour options is available.

Meridian G92 Integrated DVD System The G92 is the ideal heart of a fully-integrated Meridian Digital Theatre. Just add a set of Meridian DSP loudspeakers or conventional amps and speakers and you have a complete system. The G92 includes both multichannel analogue & digital outputs and drives digital speakers or analogue power amps directly. The G92 plays almost all CD and DVD format discs and offers multiple analogue and digital inputs. A powerful video processor is built-in, which upscales SD sources to HD and provides HDMI out at up to 1080p.
