IN 1972, NAD (originally an acronym for New Acoustic Dimension) set out to create a new kind of audio company. We were a group of audio-industry veterans: manufacturers, retailers, distributors, and – above all – listeners. We were driven by passion for great sound and by the desire to cut through the marketing hype and over-elaboration that had become pervasive in the audio industry. We wanted to provide what people really wanted instead of what they were being sold.

The audio industry we entered in 1972 had been created by its own customers back in the 1950s. People who wanted something better than mass-market radios and phonographs had searched out public-address equipment and put the cumbersome pieces of it together as best they could. And some of them went into business to make what they were not finding. By the time the "Rock Revolution" of the 1960s occurred, the interest in good equipment had become so obvious that the major players in the electronics industry had moved in to harvest the business that the audio pioneers had created. They brought a lot of expense, complexity, and hyperbole with them. The marketing of audio equipment took on so much "sizzle" that the steak became increasingly hard to find and enjoy.

We wanted to get back to the point — to the reality behind the knobs and the increasingly expensive faceplates. And we are still doing that today with every piece of equipment we design. The real point of all audio equipment for the home is obviously enjoyment — of lifelike, involving sound from music and movies. Some of the fun in buying audio components is deciding (and swapping views on) just how lifelike their sound really is. We take as much pleasure in that as anybody else, but we never lose sight of the central aim of enjoyment. And the three qualities we feel are central to creating it are performance, value, and simplicity.

NAD Master Series M3e

NAD Master Series M3e - dual mono integrated amplifier
With 2-channels of 180-watts of pure power, we're quite certain the M3e meets the outline of our technical brief which reads, "The industrial design must create a physical presence that is powerful, dynamic and solid, yet refined and elegant." We're certain we've met the challenge of this outline as well as your personal requirements. The M3e includes an entire host of convenient features to allow seamless integration into virtually any listening application. The M3e offers internal switching for two pairs of speakers and tone controls as well as a second Zone 2 output with independent commands and even its own remote control. Front panel controls allow for direct access of all features as well. Performance features are many, and include a precision volume attenuator with 0.5dB steps and a range of 87.5db, a remote balance control with 0.5dB steps, and a Mode control which allows stereo, left only, right only and mono settings. Tone controls offer bass and treble adjustments as well as a "spectral tilt" option that is highly effective at correcting the tonal balance of many recordings by simultaneously increasing the bass and decreasing the treble (and vice versa) to create a warmer or cooler balance. There are also a second set of preamp outputs and a switchable high-pass filter for the internal amplifier, to allow easy implementation of any active subwoofer or for bi-amplification.

NAD Master Series M2

NAD Master Series M2 - direct digital amplifier
The NAD M2 Direct Digital Amplifier represents a new level of amplifier performance. Combining the ultra low distortion and noise levels of the finest linear Class A and Class AB amplifiers with the efficiency and streamlined signal path of the digital amplifier, the M2 is the first implementation of a new amplifier technology called Direct Digital Feedback. Co-developed with UK based Diodes Zetex Semiconductor, and using a unique implementation of their patented DDFA architecture, the M2 redefines what is possible with digital amplifier technology. The M2 Direct Digital Amplifier represents the culmination of a decade long NAD research project, capped by three years of intense development. The result fully justifies the investment. We believe that the M2 sets new benchmarks for both measured performance and subjective musical quality.

NAD Master Series M25

NAD Master Series M25 - 7-Channel Amplifier
Power is a critical component to sound quality. The demand placed on amplifiers by today's elaborate home theatre systems requires additional headroom so that they reproduce clean sound free from the distortion of a taxed amplifier. Fortunately for the M25, at 160-watts per channel, it is one of the most powerful amplifiers built today. It's one of the cleanest amplifiers with a rated distortion of 0.03 (All channels driven simultaneously, from 20Hz to 20kHz.) The M25 easily exceeds THX's most stringent certification level, Ultra 2. Unlike most receivers and amplifiers, the M25 can deliver its full-rated power, free from distortion for hours on end. Custom designed heat sinks and temperature regulated, variable speed cooling fans work to keep the M25 running cool under the most severe operating conditions. The M25 is actually made up of seven individual mono block amplifiers with each channel using a balanced junction FET input stage to eliminate cross-talk, resulting in exceptionally low levels of noise and distortion. Additionally, NAD employs a unique electronic ground isolation circuit to prevent ground loop noise in the system—a common problem with many complex multi-channel systems. NAD's proprietary PowerDrive circuitry measures each channel's dynamic impedance individually and computes the optimum power supply voltage required to drive the output stage for maximum power and efficiency.
